Scattering is a series of works that deals with light values and their transformation into audible frequencies. For the sonification, countless mini loudspeakers were equipped with light- and colour-sensitive sensors that react in real time to changes in brightness, colour values and their intensity and convert them into audible frequencies. Various musical formats have emerged from these loudspeaker instruments: Scattering was first realised in 2014 in the light-flooded Skolská 28 gallery in Prague as a real-time sound installation, Scattering #3 (2017) and I Favour the Dark (Scattering #4, 2021) are compositions for instruments, light sensor-controlled loudspeakers and special lighting situations.

The sound installation Scattering #2 (2015) shown at KULTUM deals in particular with brightness gradients during twilight. Light data from twilight processes were recorded and stored using sensors and a microcontroller. The collected data triggers a colour projection in the sound installation, which in turn controls the sound of the mini loudspeakers. The sequence of an (accelerated) sunrise appears and sounds in a loop and, depending on the intensity of the colour and light, alternates between a beguilingly soft murmur and sometimes painfully sharp synthetic frequency layers.
